Great news for the Isle of Sheppey!

As this year’s Baby Loss Awareness Week draws to a close, we are delighted to announce that we are creating a Baby Memorial Area in the heart of Sheerness.  Our charity opened the unique Ashford Baby Memorial Garden in 2013 and over the years we have created four small memorial areas – each with nametile boards – in Faversham, Canterbury, Sittingbourne and Margate.  Today we are pleased to announce our latest area will be in the Beachfieldsseafront garden, next to the Sheerness Swimming Pool.

We are grateful to Swale Borough Council staff and councillors for its support, and to local volunteer Sarah who is helping us (thank you, Sarah). 

Cllr Hannah Perkin, chair of Swale Council’s Housing, Health and Communities Committee, said: 

“We are incredibly proud to be partnering with this amazing charity again to install the third baby memorial garden in Swale, creating a space on Sheppey for families to remember their special babies.

The next order will be going in on 15 November and further orders at three monthly intervals afterwards.

The photo below shows the approximate location of our new, special area - it will be roughly where the word ‘Adventure’ appears.  It is next to the new Golf attraction on the seafront and there is parking right next door.

Over time, we would like to create more of these local memorial areas, so if you have any suggestions for suitable locations, please get in touch!

Helping More People to Understand Baby Loss

We continue to raise awareness of our charity, and baby loss more generally, through our attendance at events, giving presentations to between ten and 100+ people.

We are very happy to come along to talk about our charity and/or baby loss more generally to groups or organisations of any size. It doesn’t matter how many people, nor the age range of the group, as we can be very flexible with our presentation and can talk for anything from ten minutes to a couple of hours!

We never charge for these sessions, nor do we ask for anything else, and we are available daytime, evenings, weekdays or weekends. Please get in touch if you know of any opportunities for us.

A Busy Summer of Fundraising!

Our small charity receives no funding and relies totally on fundraising and donations to meet our running, as well as fund and run our baby memorial areas. 

Over the summer we attended a number of events with our Smiley Face Tombola, or our Spin the Wheel game, along with our brand new bubble machines.

We are always on the lookout for other opportunities to fundraise and raise awareness of our work, so if you are aware of any local events please let us know.

Away from fundraising we have also taken part recently in awareness events in Sittingbourne, Broadstairs and Ashford.
